Powerful tiller/cultivator uses 8.5-amp motor and two blades for both cultivating and deeper tilling
The Earthwise TC70001 is a powerful combination tiller/cultivator equipped with an 8.5-amp motor. As an electric tool, the Earthwise runs clean, so you don’t have to worry about emissions. Just because it’s electric, doesn’t mean it isn’t extremely effective. The two blades (each with four tines) works for both gentle cultivating and more intense tilling for all your gardening jobs.
8.5 amp motor w/ 120 volts
The motor on the Earthwise tiller requires 120 volts to operate and generates 8.5-amps of power, which it more than enough to work through rougher ground, like clay-heavy earth or a garden bed that’s never been tilled. Since electric motors in general aren’t as powerful as gas ones, it’s good that this tiller has such a high amp-level.
Two four-tined blades
The motor powers the Earthwise’s two, four-tined blades. They are made of steel for durability, and cut a width of about 11 inches and a depth of 8.5 inches. The soil is thoroughly aerated so whatever plants you put into the ground receive the vital nutrients they need to thrive.
Wheels raise or lower
Though the Earthwise TC70001 is lightweight, the included wheels are still extremely useful. They can be lifted up or down for when you’re tilling or wanting to roll the Earthwise TC70001 away back into storage.
Using the Earthwise isn’t difficult at all. It only weighs 25 pounds, so you can choose to forgo the wheels and lift it. It also makes using it much easier because you don’t have to push hard to move it along.
Works for deep tilling and more gentle garden work
Because the Earthwise is a combo tiller and cultivator, you can use it for a variety of tasks. It’s able to do more delicate work as well as the deeper, more hardy tilling in tough ground. It also works very well on hills.
This tiller/cultivator is very affordable and gives you a big bang for your buck. It’s budget-friendly, but still able to perform well on clay or soil with bits of rock. With this tool, you don’t have to buy additional garden equipment, so you save money that way, too.
Cutting depth isn’t adjustable
You can’t adjust the cutting depth on this unit. 8.5 inches is all you get – no more or less. This reduces the versatility on the tiller, however, for the Earthwise’s intended purpose (which is to prepare soil), having a wide range of cutting depths isn’t crucial.
Blades don’t rotate in reverse
The blades don’t rotate backwards, so it can tricky to figure out how to navigate all your tilling. It’s important to remember not to force the machine when it stalls, and to always move the Earthwise tiller forward as you work.
The Earthwise TC70001 Electric Tiller/Cultivator is really the only garden tool of its type you’ll need since it’s able to both till and cultivate medium-sized gardens. It provides excellent soil aeration on hills and hard soil. It has a powerful motor, and as an electric machine, it runs clean with no emissions, making it an environmentally-friendly choice as well as an effective one for your garden.
