6-quart capacity slow cooker feeds up to seven people
The Crock-pot SCCPVL610 has a large six quart capacity, which is perfect for up to seven people with big appetites. It has a countdown digital display timer that can be set to cook for up to 20 hours. After the cooking timer counts down and expires the Crock-pot automatically switches from cook mode to warm only mode.
The digital programmable timer and display is what sets this model apart from the manual CrockPot 600-S. It can be set from anywhere from 30 minutes to 24 hours to countdown the cooking process on either High or Low setting. In addition to its digital timer, the Crock-pot is portable and has a clampdown sealable gasket to prevent spills when on the move as well as two sturdy carrying handles. Therefore, there is no need to use other containers for transporting the cooked food as the inner removable oval stoneware can act as a presentable table-serving dish. The stoneware dish is also very energy efficient and will keep the food warmer longer than a stainless steel or aluminum dish.
Easy to maintain
Similarly, when it comes to cleaning the stoneware dish, you can place it along with the lid into a dishwasher, or wash them by hand in warm soapy water. In addition, the stoneware dish is microwave and oven safe. It is not however safe to use it on a hob for frying onions for example, as this is likely to damage the stoneware dish.
The Crockpot is very simple to use as there is only really only two settings the cook time and whether you wish high or low temperature cooking. There is no thermometer or indicator of the cooking temperature and no way to adjust the temperature apart from the high/low settings. Therefore, it is extremely easy to operate if somewhat inflexible.
Portable and Easy to use
The Crock-pot SCCPVL610-S is very easy to use and is designed to be portable, hence the lockdown clamps on the lid and the sealable gasket. In addition, it has two wide robust carrying handles and an optional jacket.
No clock or way to program the cooker
The timer is not programmable it only counts down from the number of minutes that you set on the display. It has no reference to actual time so cannot be set to start cooking at a certain time. Consequently, you must manually start the cooking process however; it will finish the cooking unattended and then switch to warm mode to keep the meal warm until you return.
The Crock-pot is a very good transportable slow cooker especially if portability is a requirement. It is despite its claims of being programmable, it is not very flexible as it has no clock, thermometer or any way of referencing time or temperature. As a result, it is extremely easy to use but not very versatile. It is still however a step up from the CrockPot 600-S which is totally manual.
