Stable benchtop router table with big MDF table top, cam clamps, and ability to use big routers
The Kreg PRS2100 is a portable benchtop router table that provides you with a lot of workspace and easy adjustments through cam clamps and Level-Loc rings. Because of its design (which this review will go into), the operation of the table is a lot quieter than what you would experience with something else. The table also works with big routers, so you have a wide range of choices. If you’re interested in an industrial-quality router table that adjusts quickly, the Kreg PRS2100 is a great option.
Extra-large MDF table top
Work on bigger projects using the Kreg’s extra-large MDF table top. You get 16’’ x 24’’ of space with an Easy-Slide surface for very smooth work. You’ll be able to cut, sand, or trim very quickly and accurately.
The Kreg’s fence is industrial-quality anodized aluminum and is adjusted using cam clamps. The clamps are a new feature to the Kreg router table, and allow you to make adjustments to the fence very quickly. The clamps lock in place so your fence isn’t moving around as you feed stock through it. The fence faces are also adjustable.
Full-size router insert plate
Despite its smaller size, the Kreg PRS2100 router table comes with a full-size router insert plate. Using three Level-Loc rings (included), just about any router can be inserted and locked into place as you twist and lock the rings in place. You can buy even more rings in different sizes if you want.
The Kreg PRS2100 is a very stable table, which makes it ideal for working with detailed work that requires very precise accuracy. The wide-stance stand is made of heavy-duty steel and has rubber feet so the table stays in place as you work. The MDF tabletop also helps with stability as it dampens the vibrations from the router.
Works with a lot of routers
Just about any router fits into the router table, even big ones. The Level-Loc rings help a lot with this. The router mounting plate even has laser-engraved markers so mounting a router is extremely easy even if you aren’t experienced with router tables.
Instead of sitting in an enclosed cabinet, the router has an open design. This helps reduce the router noise so you can work without feeling like you’re going deaf or bothering everyone on a Saturday morning or later in the evening. You can work on your projects when you want to.
Plastic parts on fence
Despite the table’s stability, the actual durability of the table is questionable, especially when it come to the fence. It has plastic flip-down tabs that are prone to breakage. To get the tabs really solid, you have to tighten the screws. To adjust the fence, you have to unscrew them, which is kind of a bother.
The Kreg PRS2100 benchtop router table comes with some great new features that allow for fast adjustments, like the cam clamps and Level-Loc rings for the router. You also have a lot of workspace, so you can work very quickly on a variety of projects that use pieces in a lot of different shapes and sizes. Though there are some bits to the table that aren’t especially solid, the table as a whole is very stable, so you don’t have to worry about slipping while you cut a length of wood or wobbling.
