The Singer 9960 Quantum stylist sewing machine is deemed one of the best machines on the market. The Singer has many inbuilt features and benefits which makes it such a versatile machine.
Features
The 9960 comes with 600 pre-programmed stitches, which make the Brother Runway PC420’s mere 290 seem miserly. There is a downside however to having such a vast selection and that is where some other sewing machine falls down. It simply isn’t enough to boast 300 or 600 stitches if the user cannot find or has to search laboriously through the selection to find the one they want. On the Singer 9960, however they have elegantly got around that problem by including a visual reference chart on the underside of the thread case lid. This is a lot quicker than flicking in a sequence through the digital display.
functionality
The Singer 9960 is also fully automatic and can run in autopilot mode where it controls the speed and makes difficult areas easy and error free. If you don’t want to use this feature you can also over-ride it and use the traditional foot pedal to control the sewing speed yourself. When you are finished sewing, a one click of a button neatly cuts both threads.
Accessories
The Singer 9960 comes with an extra wide extension table, a custom fit hard cover and 18 types of presser feet, which are more than enough choice for any project. There are also a needle pack, bobbins, seam ripper, spool cap. Screwdrivers seam guide and a Quilting bar.
Strengths
Self-Threading
Another very useful and time saving feature is the needle auto-threader and bobbin threaded feature. The fact that the thread lies in its own horizontal compartment and not sit vertical on top of the machine also improves the feed to both the bobbin and needle, making it more even. This makes bobbin work quick and easy and it just takes a double click of the button to have the needle threaded and ready to go. Auto threading is a very popular feature as it takes one of the more stressful and frustrating parts of the job – threading the needle – out of the equation leaving you to get on with the sewing.
Capable machine packed with features
Many stitches available with mirror image options and stretches, along with recommended presser foot to use. Stitch patterns include decorative and alphabets in several fonts.

Overall Verdict
A very capable machine packed with stitch patterns and presser feet that will meet the requirements of most projects or skill levels. It can work in automatic mode, which doesn’t require the foot pedal, which is great feature for the disabled. Its only weakness is you cannot save your customized patterns.
